Dear EPIC for Girls Community,
We are excited to share an important milestone for EPIC for Girls.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Markeshia Grant as Executive Director.
Many of you already know Markeshia through her leadership as Program Director, where she has played an integral role in strengthening EPIC’s programs, partnerships, and long-term vision. Over the past year, she has helped expand opportunities for girls of color, deepen relationships across the community, and build a strong foundation for the organization’s future.
A former University of South Carolina women’s basketball player under Hall of Fame coach Dawn Staley, Markeshia understands firsthand the power of sports to build confidence, leadership, and opportunity. Combined with her experience in nonprofit leadership, youth development, and strategic planning, she brings both passion and expertise to this role.
As Executive Director, Markeshia will lead EPIC into its next chapter of being a leader in capacity building by strengthening partnerships, growing our impact, and ensuring more girls of color have access to the sports and leadership opportunities they deserve.
“EPIC has always believed that every girl deserves the opportunity to discover her strength, find her voice, and pursue her dreams,” said Grant. “I am honored to serve as Executive Director and excited to build upon the incredible foundation that has been established. Together with our Board of Directors, partners, supporters, and community, we will continue creating opportunities that empower girls to lead with confidence, achieve their goals, and realize their full potential.”
The Board of Directors is confident that Markeshia’s vision, collaborative leadership, and deep commitment to our mission will guide EPIC for Girls into an exciting new chapter.
Please join us in congratulating Markeshia on this well-deserved appointment. We look forward to the future of EPIC for Girls under her leadership and to the continued impact we will make together.
With gratitude,
The EPIC for Girls Board of Directors
